For the newbie’s who have just started playing Monopoly city streets ,I would recommend to buy long streets and follow the below strategy. I bet you will be on the national leaderboard within days.

For this strategy you need to hunt out the $1million streets and snap them up quickly. The great thing about $1million streets is that the buildings that you place on them will fetch their initial build cost in rent per day, once you fill the street with properties.

Of course the risk you run here is that you are putting all your eggs in one basket. If you develop the street and then another player places a hazard on your street, then you will not earn any rent from that street. You do get $1million per day in rent regardless of what properties and streets you own (as long as you log in), but if you do spend a lot of money developing a $1million street and it gets sabotaged then you run the risk of having a lot of your rental income locked down, thus no return on your investment and no fast money.

The key with this strategy is to buy a $1million road and fill the street with green houses. Most $1milliion roads will have 100 spots for green houses, which if you calculate, will cost you $5million on top of the $1million that you spend on the street which totals $6million. Now of course this means that it will take you 2/3 days at least to fill the street with green houses and this means that somebody is sure to notice that you are building a lot of properties on one road and may sabotage you with a hazard chance card. If this happens you will be a little stuck as you will only have one road and not much spare cash to expand. However if you get lucky and do not get sabotaged with a hazard chance card, you can start earning pretty quickly.

One thing that I haven’t mentioned with this strategy is that in building lots of green houses you will in all likelihood get some chance cards. A couple of these may be bonus buildings, and if you get a couple of these then place them on your $1million street. This will mean that other players cannot place hazard buildings on your street, protecting your rental income. The only way that they can sabotage your street is by getting a bulldozer chance card and then choosing to destroy your bonus building. If you get a couple of bonus buildings on your $1million street you may be a less likely target for other competitors in your neighbourhood.

You must bear in mind that the long streets will be taken up very quickly in the game as the buildings on them will fetch more rent per day than smaller streets. This strategy will probably only work if you join the game early on. If you manage to grab yourself 2 or 3 million dollar streets from the bank, then you are doing very well!

This is a starting strategy and how you progress from here is up to you. You could opt to buy slightly smaller streets to spread your risk (preferably close to your initial street) and place some high yielding buildings on them to spread your risk, or do some deals. The key to this strategy is to get a high yielding street and get it earning fast. The risks are high, but the rewards can be massive. Plus building all those little green houses will surely lead to you getting plenty of chance cards, good and even bad penalty chance card!
